Thanks "LiveBait" - May 19, 2008
No I ain't talking about fishing, which I haven't got to do much of lately, I"m talking music, it was two Saturdays ago when Live Bait played . They did a real fine job, the selection of songs was great too. I'm hoping to have em back real soon. They didn't "Brown Eyed Girl" one time- way to go guys. Thanks again.
JAX was here this past Sat. Ed I'm not evev going to try to spell your last name. You guys were alot of fun too. A very talented family. You looked like you were having fun playing. Thanks for the music. Hope to see you soon.
The words just ain't comming to me today- too long a weekend I guess.
Briar Hill/ Gomes - April 29, 2008
The Briar Hill Gang was on the stage this past Saturday, what a good time, if you weren't singing along- stomping your feet or clapping your hands you was dead. It was the most fun I've had with my clothes on in years. Them boys and girl(Dani on drums) was tearing it up. Everyone here said how good the tunes were. They are welcome on my stage ANYTIME. If you miss it, you cab still catch em at the pig roast on Aug 9th. Thanks a whole bunch guys- hope to see you again, real soon.
Anthony Gomes and the band were here last night. They had the whole damn mountain rockin. It's easy to see why these guys are considered world class, because they ARE! They are pros. And excellent at what they do. It was their third time on the Mountain and I'm sure as shootin it won't be their last. This past week was rough on me, must be gettin old. Well tonight is wing night and i better get back to the galley.
Thanks again to The Briar Hill Gang and the Anthony Gomes band, it's guys like you that make this whole business worth while. Gott go.

April Letter - April 13, 2008
Lets start out with birthday wishes for Luke and Bree, Happy birthday guys.
We were in Florida last week, had a real good time thanks to cousin Tom and Shelly. It was our second vacation in seven years and we DID enjoy it. We met some real nice people too. The weather was fantastic about 85-90 degrees. Did a little fishing alot of partying with old friend Jim Beam. I hated comming back, reality sucks.
Nick Moss and the Flip Tops did one hell of agood job on the Sunday before we headed south on va-k.
While we were gone some of the regulars here all pitched in and painted the floor in the bar, thanks alot, you guys are the best. The floor looks great.
Speaking of great, the Boys from Greensburg, a.k.a. "The Briar Hill Gang" were in camp to do a little fishing this weekend and came to the Mountain and made some music, and good shit it was. They are gonna be back on the 26th of the month and do a regular gig for us, so if you like music you'll love these guys, come out and give these guys a listen, you'll be impressed.
ANTHONY GOMES is back on the 28th. DON'T MISS this show!!! It's Anthony's third time here, and I'm sure it won't be his last, he is one hell of a good musician, check out his site. WWW>Anthonygomes.com.
Don't forget next month "LIL ED and the BLUES IMPERALS will be here. (Band of the year winners)
I'm hoping to do a little fishing tomarrow, we'll see how the weather is, I'm getting too damn old to be fishin in the rain.
On a much more serious note. While we were on va-k there was a teriable fire in Brockway (my home town) It was my cousin J. D>'s house- ten perished while J D was at work. It is just tearable. He lost his wife- kids-grandkids and friend of the family. It's just devistating. If any of you would like to help out, you can send donations to.
Priorty First F.C.U.

It woundn't hurt to say a couple prayers too.
I end this here.

Hi Becka
Thanks Jason Ricci - February 28, 2008
This is attempt # 2- I hate these f%$#@ing computers.
Jason Ricci and New Blood know how to entertain they were supposed to play two 45 min. sets, they played 2hours the first set, an hour or better the second and still came out for an encore. These boys can rock! If you missed this show , you SCREWED UP. It was the best to hit the Mountain since the beginning. What a night. They said they wanted to come back, even though I shorted them $100 (By accident of course) we would love to have a return performance. Thanks again To Jason and New Blood- the best live show to hit the Mountain.
Also this past Sat. we got a suprise visit from the "Boys from Greensburg" they drove up here just to play then turned around and drove back home. Now that is a love for music. These guys do all kinds of stuff from Hank Williams to Ozark Mt. Daredevils. I invited them to play the pig roast this year they accepted. Thanks guys.
This is a work night for me, my helper needs to leave early so I gotta run the galley. Better go.
Don't forget SHOTGUN MURPHY this Sat. TANGENT on the 15th and Chicago's own NICK MOSS and the FLIP TOPS on the 30th- Nick and the band are nominated for five blues awards this year! They are best album- best contempory album- best instrumentalist- guitar-Nick Moss- Best Instrumentalist mandolin-Gerry Hundt- and Band of the year. and their coming to the Mountain. Check out

Both these bands are without-a-doubt KICK ASS music makers. I must have been having a brain fart last nite to over look these guys. Hope to see you here.

Paul has left the Mountain - February 8, 2008
Our good buddy Paul Shimmel has moved back to York, we will miss him. Good luck Paul, thanks for all your support. Paul was doing a regular Tuesday nite thing for us, and a damn good job he did too.
Daughter Rebecca and her daughter Riley paid us a week long visit a couple weeks ago. A week just ain't long enough. I can't beleive how smart Riley is, she must take after her Grandpa. I miss them more than ever.
We got some good entertainment on line to take up the slack of Paul leaving. This Tue. it's our good friend and Mountain icon, Big Bill Diehl taking the stage for wing nite, on the 19th it's Mary Beth Geppart, home from England, singing better than ever, then on the 26th Chris Hepfer is making music, you gotta see Chris, he plays shit nobody else plays-Collective Soul-David Allen Coe and lots more.

JASON RICCI & NEW BLOOD are here on Monday the 25th- I'm told by everyone that has seen them it's the BEST live show you'll ever see, I can't wait. This is an international act, and their gracing the Mountain with their stuff. Ckeck out their web site, wwwjasonricci.com.

My big brother Dave is turning 52 in a couple days, hell Mom and Dad said you would be lucky to see 30, I didn't think you would hit 19, shows ya what we know. Have a good one Dave, come up and I'll buy you a beer, oh thats right you don't drink, guess I just saved myself a little cash.
I know I ain't been writing very much, just lazyness no excuses.
Christmas and New Years flew right by without a hitch, hope everybody had a good one.
Well it's time to fire up the sleds, if we get enough snow that is. It's supposed to snow every day this week, lets hope so. Theres a hell of alot of people wanting to ride, including me.

Anthony Gomes - December 12, 2007
Gomes and his band took the stage at 8 and it was all good after that. What a good show. I was really into it as was everyone else that was here. The vocals were out of this world as were the instrmentals. They were all nice guys too, down to earth, very polite and appricative (I still can't spell) And they liked the food too-them boys know what real chow is. I didn't talk to one person that didn't have a good time, it went well. Anthony and the band are due back in April, so if you missed them this time you got a second chance to redeme yourself. Thanks again to Anthony and the boys, hope to see you soon.
JASON RICCI & NEW BLOOD- I know most of you ain't never heard of them. But till recently you never heard of Gomes either. I never saw em live either, but, a very good friend to the Mountain-Jimmy Barnoff- highly recommended them and Jimmy knows his music(hi Jimmy- miss you-been to the nude beach?) Anyway Jason Ricci & New Blood will be on the Mountain Feb 25th, It's a Monday, at 8pm. Jason is a blues rocker with a little punk and jazz thrown in. Go to their site
WWW.jasonricci.com/ it can tell you a hell of a lot more than I can and the spelling is good too. So remember about the end of Feb. when your sitting around the house trying to keep warm and bitchin there ain't nothin to do, drag your ass off the couch and come see Jason and New Blood. You just can't see musicians of this caliber unless you go to Moon Dogs down in Pittsburgh or go toErie or Philly, this is top notch enterainment, come see fer yourself, you won't be left down. Hell the regular guys that come here to play are pretty damn good, you would travel a hell of a long way to find a better vocalist than Stevie Duffalo, he's a good guitar player too, Oh yea another Mountain regular Jim Davis-is in a new band TANGENT they did their first gig here this past Saturday, WOW, is all I can say and it describes it well. Great job guys.
Another regular Chris "Hano" Hanlon will be here next Thursday, Chris has been a regular before we had the place, he used to live in the back apartment when Mitch still owned it, although he says it wasn't quite the same as it is now, I'll bet. Chris sat in with the GORDHEADS this past Monday, hope he had a good time, we did.
Gene Deible is directing OLIVER at the Rice Theather- Kimmy and me are heading over there tonight to see it, it outta be fun. Gene is getting to be a Mountain regular in his own right, he's been doing a Wed. thing (when not comitted to do plays and the likes) All acoustic, with Gene on banjo, sometimes Fred McGarry on dobro, Garret on everthing else (Now theres a guy than can play). It's fun. We don't advertise it, we just call it pot luck Wed.
Another Mountain regular, since day one is Bree, Bree is Kimmys daughter-in case you didn't know. She started helping around here six years ago and is still here- working for me ain't easy you know. Just wanted to say. You make me proud- Ilove you, as much as my own.
Uhoh getting tearie eyed, better go.

Getting Colder - December 4, 2007
It sure feels like winter, starting to look like it too. Bring on the snow.
Paul is in the bar making music, not much of a crowd, too cold I guess. Oh well.
In that letter I lost last week I had all kinds of shit about the "Chili Cook Off" some of the musicians it was really cool stuff and you just can't recreate it. Sorry. I tried but it just wasn't happening.
Gomes it this Thursday, get your ass off the couch come see an excellent musician, it's a treat to have a guy of this caliber in this area. Come help support LIVE music.
Kimmy just informed me she was shopping, and need a hand getting stuff out of the car, I think that means she got alot, my back is starting to hurt already. I better go.

Fall is here - October 10, 2007
Well the trees are doing their thing, I love this time of year, the warm days, cool nights (good fer snuggling) the way the leaves smell ect. ect. ect. I would like to get out and do a little fishin before it gets too cold, but there ain't a hell of alot of water in the creeks, been pretty dry this summer.
I want thank all the vendors that showed up for the musicians flea market, Chicho, Bob Sink (who by the way is a GREAT mandolin and fiddle player, and a damn nice guy, it was nice to meet you Bob) and Dan from "Dano's Dirt Cheap Music", Jeff Selfridge, Dee of the Shotgun Murphy Band and the Guitar Doctor Lloyd Gray. Thanks again guys, hope to see ya next year.
Anothy Gomes is back in Dec. You guys gotta see this act, he is absolutly one hell of a musician of world class, I shit you not. DON'T MISS IT Dec 6, reserve your tickets now! They won't last long.
I got a little ahead of my self, we got a big doins this month, on the 28th we're having a "chili cook off" with a grand prize of a Weber Stainless gas Grill, donated by Big Ernie Moore of Del Machine, if you were here for my birthday you probly met Ernie, he did all the cooking that day and fine job he did of it too. So I want all you guys that think you make chili to come out and give it a shot, as of right now we have 7 contestants signed up, with room for lots more so get off your asses and start cookin. I'm also gonna try to have a hay ride that day (if I can find a sober driver, any volenteers? (Iknow it ain't spelled right) I'm also having a crawdad boil and if possible a venison on the spit. It'll be a last outdoor function of the year. So dress for the season, break out that old roaster pan and start cooking.
I think I got Chris Hepfer talked into playing on the wagon, Chris Hanlon playing on stage, I got "Something Serious" playing too. If you want play that day lets us know. The 28th is a fundraised for legal fees, anyone who comes here knows about the battle between us and the court system, or should I call it the Nazi system, which seems more fitting. I don't want to get started on that story cause I'd never get of this computer. If you know me you know what I'm talking about. (Ihate frigging lawyers) paid liars.
Anyway it's Wed. my day off. I gotta get outside while the sun is still shinning.
I do want to say a BIG thanks to Brother Dave for being a loyal supporter of the Mountain. Just read his entrys in the guest book and you'll know what I mean. Thats it fer now, remember the 28th. It'll be a blast, get up here and help JUSTICE prevail, not the asshole liars that started this whole mess.
I better go, getting a little pissed off thinking bout the legal system, what a joke.

Berry pie - September 9, 2007
I gotta relate this story to ya. A couple years ago Kimmy was cleaning the ladies room, which she does very well I might add, when she noticed something strange in the trash can, it was a plate, she retrived it from the can, and saw it had berry stains on it. Back then we har a pie display case in the dining room. So the only thing we could think of was that someone snagged a hunk of pie on their way to the crapper, took it the restroom sat on the shitter and ate it. I wonder if they washed their hands before they ate or after they ate or if they washed them at all. Now I'll tell ya I've been hungry and I've been drunk before (only once or twice) but I NEVER sat on the shitter and scrafed down a chunk of pie. The atmosphere just ain't right, ya know what I mean? I'm sure alcohol was a factor, but what the hell. I might be able to see some drunk guy doing it but a lady. (and I use the term loosely) I guess ya never know. Wonder if shes cathlic and if so did she tell the preist at confession, how many hell Marys would that be? Anyway like I said it was some type of berry, blue? maybe , but I think "dingle berry" would be more suiting to this case, don't you? Oh well we may have been beat out of a sale but we will have something to talk about for years, so I guess it's worth it. I can't help but wonder if they were doing the duty while eating, the concept is not pleasent to think about. The smell of shit just don't do much fer me. It sure as hell don't make me hungry. But to each their own. Well I better go, just wanted to tell bout this.
Bon apptite

Pig Roast #6 - August 19, 2007
Another Pig roast is over, thats #6. All went well, the chow was fantastic, the music even better. Thanks again to all who helped make it happen. Van is the "Pig Cookin King" as far as I'm concerned. He's been here for the last four roasts and never was it not outstanding.
An old buddy from 30 years ago ran sound this year, and is running it next year too, Paul "Shady" Shaffer, did one hell of a good job.
I can't

The Tree - July 13, 2007
If you ain't seen our tree yet, then your missing something really cool. Tim Klock did one kick ass job. He took a ten foot oak stump and turned it into a peice of art that would reivel Fred Remington, or Van Gough, anyways it looks good. I want to thank Tim again and I also want to thank all you guys that pitched in to help Pay for it, thanks you guys, i really mean it.
I turned 50 the same weekend Tim did the tree, that was a day to remember, wish I could.
people asked me the day after how 50 feels, I told em it freaking hurts, and it did that Sunday, it don't feel bad now though.
Happy Birthday to sister Anita.
Got the outside gril fired up the other day, works good. Come up and cook your own. We're gonna use it every bike nite(Thur) and maybe on th eweekends too, we'll see how well it catches on.
Went tubing on the Clairon the other day that felt real good. A couple time a year I gotta soak my naked ass in that river, it kinda recharges my battries, so to speak. We took Lloyd and Pam with us they had a ball too.
Our annual pig roast is just a month away, time is still flying.
I better get my old ass back to work, this computer stuff wears me out.
Becky, love you.

Been Fishing - June 2, 2007
This is the first year that I've really fished since we got the place, it feels good too. Me and Gary been out a few times, it's been fun. We've caught a couple, but catching fish is the bonus, just getting out is what it's all about. Now don't get me wrong I like to catch fish when I'm fishing, but it's the gravy, so to speak. I caught the biggest trout of my life this year, probly bout 22 inches or so and big around as a fat ladies ankle. It was a nice fish, I let it go, too pretty to kill, getting soft in my old age.
Got some doings going on this month, on the 23rd Tim Klock is doing some chainsaw carving to a 10 ft oak stump, Ernie Moore is cooking a pig and other stuff, and "SALTY DOG" is making the music that day, they start playing bout 5pm, come on out I promise it'll be fun.
Other stuff on the Mountain?, hell I don't know. Tuesdays are getting better, with $2.00 wings some real good country music too.
My right hand man(Seth) got his drivers licence today, on the first try too, congrats Seth, be careful, use your head.
Dads been under the weather lately. I hope he's feeling better. Probly ate too many leaks, right Dad?
Well I hear movement in the galley so I guess it's time to go stir up some chow for some unsuspecting soul, the poor bastard.

Winters Over? - April 9, 2007
Well here it is April and you would think it's Feb. Oh well.
Snowmobile season was pretty good to us, lots of snow, it was only two years comming.
Fishing season starts Sat., I even got a licence this year, I'm planning on doing some fishing. We (Gary and myself) were planning to sign up for a "Crappy" tournment at Curnwensville Lake until we read the rules, No beer allowed, we scratched that idea, if you can't drink beer while fishing, well it just ain't fishing then. We'll go where we can .
Tomarrow is Bree's birthday the big 18. Have a good one Bree, love ya.
Bree is my girlfriends daughter, for those of you that didn't know.
Easter was yesterday, had a great day visiting with all our kin folk, it was really enjoyable, a GOOD day off.
Bill Diehl re-did the web site I think it looks great, what do you think? Let us know, via e-mail or guest book.
Well it is my afternoon off, I don't know what I'm gonna do, weather is kinda shitty, might be a good day to lay on the couch and watch TV.
The "Gordheads" are playing tonight, I'll have to be there for that, it's always fun.
Shiloh Run played on Fri, (cause "Free Beer" had a gig elsewhere) and kicked some mountain ass, they are really good, you gotta see them.
Been getting some good pickers on Tue too. Been trying to get Tue going for two years, it looks like it is finally happening, I hope so.
Me dad and Brothe Dave went to Uncle Lucians on Wed, had a good time, It's the first I've seen him in a couple years. Where in the hell does time go ? Some of my best memories are from times I spent at his house.
Well the couch is a callin, I'm heading upstairs to see if I can find an old John Wayne movie on, It'll have to be an old one, he's been dead damn near 30 years, oh weel I outta here.
